In this case the block-lift provides total rigidness in both sides wether extension and compression force directions, while the block-lift is in locked position. It is preferred to use in applications where the lockable gas spring does not allow any movement at all in either direction.  This gas spring is rigid in both directions. Therefore rigid in extension and rigid in compression.
